OK Geese!
The geese have been missing for about two weeks when our building’s owner put out picnic tables in the sweep of grass that they had been guarding. While walking home a week ago I would run into them down at the Burnanthorpe/Hurontario stairs (not in the parking lot!)…feeling like they were following me.
Then they completed disappeared for about a week…didn’t see them at all last week or this…until last night.
Since my car is 65% ‘new’ (whole side replaced and then last year the back end when I got hit) I have been parking at the back of the parking lot, so that no one will ding my car sides.
Last night a coworker and myself are walking out and she is close to the building and I am at the back so I walk and lo and behold, there’s those OK geese! But guess where they are….RIGHT AT MY CAR! Not a car length down, not ‘near’ my car…but AT MY CAR.
When I saw them at Burnanthorpe/Hurontario they were friendly in that you could walk a close to them and they left you be, so I thought…I will just walk up to my car and get in.
NOPE…
One starting honking at me and walking quickly towards me so I backed up away from them. I wait for my coworker to drive up and she offers to drive me to my car, not knowing that where they are IS my car. She starts laughing when she realizes and I told her to drive up close to my car and maybe they would walk/fly away…
NOPE…
She then leaves and I have NO clue how I am going to get to my car as each time I try to get to my car, out comes the wings and honking and BOTH of them come towards me.
A guy in a minivan had been watching and decided to help in trying to herd them around his van as he drove up to my car. The geese, knowing I am there, try to get around the van back to me. I quickly RUN to the passenger side of my car and climb over to the driver’s seat. Once I sit down, one goose is staring at me through the driver’s side window honking at me and the other is in front of my car. I look at the one to my left and told him in a stern voice to not peck at my car, it had been newly replaced and slowly backed up and drove off….
I am a freakin’ goose magnet…
